Alsace

Ruhlmann-Schutz

The Alsatian vineyard is located on the side of the Vosges, between 175 and 420 m of altitude, and takes advantage of the benefits of the superior Rhine Valley. The region is located on a geological fault, composed of diversified and rich soils: granite, marl, sandstone, limestone…

Furthermore, the climate is suitable for the vines. The vineyard is the dryer of France thanks to the Vosges: on the West, these mountains are a natural barrier against the oceanic wet flows.

From generation to generation, the Ruhlmann vineyard has grown and covers today 40 hectares around Dambach-la-Ville and 4 surrounding municipalities. It includes 2 “Grand Cru” and plenty of “Lieux-dits” with a typical geology.

This geographic repartition realized through generations, allows them to adapt the grape variety to the terroir. Vines are worked in a traditional way and the wines, including ones coming from Old Vines, are stamped by the rich terroirs that provide them delicacy and temperament.

Wunsch et Mann

Since 1793, the men and women of the WUNSCH & MANN house have produced Alsace wines which reflect a family tradition, a commitment to our land, and a real love of the vine and its winemaking. Alsatian wines from the best hillsides of Wettolsheim and the surrounding villages, Eguisheim, Colmar, and Wintzenheim, of which we ensure the selection of grapes, pressing, vinification, aging and maturation in our own cellars located in Wettolsheim.Since 2008, with the aim of preserving our values and our land for future generations, we made the choice to operate our vineyard in organic farming. Wettolsheim is located 5 km southwest of Colmar. It is one of the cradles of the Alsatian vineyard and today one of the most important wine-growing villages in Alsace, particularly well exposed between the Three Châteaux of Eguisheim and the Château de Hohlandsbourg.

The MANN family has been cultivating the vineyard there since 1793. In 1948, when the economic situation was difficult due to the scars left by the end of the war, Joseph Wunsch and Joseph Mann founded the Wunsch et Mann house. The vineyard is partly destroyed or even in a situation of abandonment and the means of production have been seriously damaged by the war. The whole family is then mobilized and involved in this project. In 1970, following the death of Joseph Wunsch, Joseph Mann took sole reins of the company. 4 of Joseph Mann's 7 children then became involved in the business over the years: Jean-Louis, the eldest son became cellar master (oenologist) in 1972 after completing his enology studies in Avize in Champagne. Michèle, responsible for reception and administration joined in 1976, Jacques, sales director joined in 1980 and Marc, head of culture joined in 1980

Today, the 4th generation has taken over the management of the estate between tradition and modernity: Maxime, responsible for winemaking and cultivation, and Thierry, sales manager.
